Information of Diet
Drugs
If you have been struggling to lose weight
and have tried many different programs diet drugs might be
the way to go.
If you have decided to use diet drugs to
lose weight, please use your common sense and talk with your
doctor before taking any medication. Diet drugs can be dangerous
if not taken properly.
For diet drugs that need a prescription you
can find many that are approved by the FDA (Food and Drug
Administration). These diet drugs are Meridia, Tenuate, Phentermine,
Didrex, Bontril, Adipex, and Xenical. Side effects for these
diet drugs can be monitored by your doctor and he can also
explain how and when to take them effectively.
There are side effects for prescription diet
drugs just like any other medication. The side effects vary
with the diet drug that is taken but, the most common side
effects for diet drugs are sore throat, upset stomach, sinus
inflammation, rash, more painful menstruation, nervousness,
nausea, nasal inflammation, loss of strength, loss of appetite,
pain in the joints, insomnia, increased appetite, headaches,
flu like symptoms, dry mouth, dizziness, depression, increased
coughing, constipation, back pain, anxiety, indigestion, and
abdominal.
Diet drugs are usually designed for people
who are suffering from obesity with their weight being over
35 pounds of what they should be. Even with taking these diet
drugs you must still eat properly and exercise.
Over the counter diet drugs is one of the
fastest growing industries today. These diet drugs are not
classifieds as drugs so they do not have any regulations designed
for them.
These over the counter diet drugs do have
side effects as with all medications. The reason for so many
side effects is that many different ingredients are used and
the dosage may not be proper for each individual. Some of
the side effects include: nervousness, tremors, diarrhea,
bulging eyes, increased heartbeat, high blood pressure or
even heart failure.
The drug companies that manufacture diet
drugs are in fact working on inventing diet drugs that work
on our brain and our stomachs, to help suppress our appetites
in various ways.
There are side effects even with these diet
drugs. For diet drugs that work on our brain to reduce our
appetites include: heart damage, impotence, depression, hair
loss, fever, chest pain, high blood pressure, this is just
a few of the listed side effects.
For the diet drugs that work on our stomach
to suppress our appetites are prescription drugs like Xenical.
Side effects include: vomiting, vaginal inflammation, urinary
tract infections, increased problems with your teeth, problems
sleeping, rash, respiratory tract infections, rectal pain
or discomfort, oily discharge, nausea, muscle pain, menstrual
pain and or more cramping, increased defecation, headaches,
gum problems, gas with fecal discharge, flu like symptoms,
fecal incontinency, oily stools, fatigue, earaches, dizziness,
diarrhea, back pain, arthritis, anxiety, abdominal pain or
discomfort. You should also be a low fat diet in order to
reduce these side effects.
Even diet drugs that are herbal or claim
to be all natural are also associated with some health concerns.
Do not trust a diet drug that claims to be all natural any
more than you would an over the counter or a prescription
drug.
Diet drugs can work very effectively when
used correctly with a proper diet and exercise program. But,
some diet drugs lose the effectiveness after repeated use.
So, after you are stable at the weight that you should be,
go off the diet drugs and try to eat right and keep exercising.
The use of diet drugs should always be discussed
with your doctor before you start taking them. Your doctor
should know your medical history and every type of weight
loss program you have tried in order to prescribe the correct
diet drugs for you. |
